Rachael Pennell
Sings Cole Porter
(Heard Music)

Rachael Pennell is a British vocalist who is growing in popularity in England. For her third recording, she performs 13 Cole Porter songs which she featured in her touring show including at the Edinburgh Festival. Accompanied with sympathy and swing by pianist Nigel Fox, bassist Steve Riddell and drummer Fred Harris, Ms. Pennell comes up with infectious versions of such standbys as "It's All Right With Me," "Just One Of Those Things," "You Do Something To Me" and "So In Love." The material could be fresher but she sounds so happy singing these classics and has such an attractive voice that Sings Cole Porter (available from www.rachaelpennell.com) is easily recommended. Rachael Pennell is currently performing Rodgers & Hart songs in a show based on Ruth Etting's life; that eventual recording should be notable.
